Working with renewed vigour under trying circumstances, Mahindra Satyam (formerly Satyam Computer) has secured nearly 40-50 contracts big and small over the last 18 months, according to Mr A.S. Murthy, Chief Technology Officer.
Since the Satyam scam broke out in January 2009, the company associates have worked with greater application delivering some of the best projects including for the Fifa World Cup. The transition has been tough and the company has managed to consolidate and begun to attract talent again. “We are recruiting again selectively in some specific areas of growth including engineering and infrastructure management services,” Mr Murthy said.
Speaking on the sidelines at the CII HR Conclave here today, Mr Murthy said there is thrust on engineering and infrastructure management services. While the engineering sector will see the company entering new segments, the infrastructure management practice, which is with Satyam for the last 10 years, will be strengthened further.
“We see these two areas growing at a much rapid pace. About 90 per cent of the business is generated from application development and management services.”
Freedom to work
Refraining to divulge numbers with company results slated for September 30, Mr Murthy said North America accounts for 75 per cent of the business. “Once we declare our results, we see large size deals coming through,” he said.
Speaking about modern day job seeker, Mr Murthy said he wants freedom to work, which HR managers should respect. Citing Google, he said about 50 per cent of its new products have come from 20 per cent of free time an employee gets to innovate and do what he likes.
